Osasuna vs Valencia build-up & previous line-ups:
Last season was Osasuna’s second consecutive back in top division football and their average final position across those campaigns was 10.5. In fact across the club’s previous ten complete La Liga campaigns they’ve only managed to finish above tenth place on two occasions (2010/11 and 2011/12). Under Jagoba Arrasate’s watch they’ve started this season well, having accumulated five points from nine available. Back-to-back goalless home draws against Espanyol and Celta Vigo was followed by a narrow 2-3 win at Cadiz last time out. The visitors were trailing 2-1 heading into the 90th minute but sensationally registered two goals in the final seconds through Roberto Torres and David García which also ended the club’s four-game winless streak in Spain’s top-flight.
There’s a growing sense of optimism at the Mestalla after Valencia posted their worst La Liga finish in 33 years last season. Los Che claimed 13th spot, only the third time in 13 campaigns they’ve finished outside the top ten positions, but now with Pepe Bordalás at the helm they are making up significant ground early doors. After their opening three La Liga matches they’ve picked up seven points (two wins and one draw). Valencia began with a narrow 1-0 win against Getafe before Granada held them to a 1-1 draw. Before the recent international break they bounced back by putting three past Alaves without reply. When it comes to visiting Osasuna in La Liga they’ve won just two of their last 13 matches, after winning five of the club’s previous 10 trips.

Player to watch: Carlos Soler (Valencia)
In a frustrating 2020/21 campaign for Valencia there were very few bright spots, the most notable was homegrown star Carlos Soler, who ended that La Liga campaign with 11 goals and eight assists from 32 appearances. His most notable performance came on matchday nine when he bagged a hat-trick past defending champions Real Madrid and he’s started this current season on a historical trajectory. The 24-year-old Spanish midfielder has netted in each of Los Che‘s opening three games. If he penetrates Osasuna’s goal then Soler will become only the second Valencia player after Fernando Morientes in 2006/07 to score in each of the opening four games of a league season.
