Orlando City vs Inter Miami build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

After suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat away to NYCFC, Orlando quickly recovered to beat rivals Atlanta United 3-2 last time out. Oscar Pareja’s men twice came from behind before Nani delivered the winning goal in the final minutes, elevating them to second in the East. Though eight points separate the Lions from Supporters’ Shield leaders New England Revolution, they do have a game in hand and plenty of matches still to play.

Inter Miami barely scraped into the playoffs last year during their inaugural season but things have gone from bad to worse this campaign. Phil Neville has failed to adjust to the tactical and physical rigours of MLS and despite beating CF Montreal 2-1 last time out, the Herons remain rooted to the bottom of the overall standings with just 12 points from 14 games.

  • Orlando City (vs Atlanta United): Stajduhar; Ruan, Carlos, Jansson, Smith; Perea, Rosell; Mueller, Pereyra, Michel; Nani.
  • Inter Miami (vs CF Montreal): Marsman; Leerdam, Figal, Gonzalez Pirez*, Gibbs; Ulloa, Gregore; Morgan, F. Higuain, Robinson; G. Higuain.

Orlando continue to limp on without a number of key players, with Pedro Gallese, Alexandre Pato, Junior Urso, Jhegson Mendez and Wilfredo Rivera all out.

Joevin Jones and Ian Frey are injured for Miami, who are also missing centre-back Leandro Gonzalez Pirez through suspension.

Players to watch:

  • Orlando City: During his time in MLS, Nani has invested himself arguably more than most other European imports into the league. The former Portugal international shows great leadership on the field and has an unmatched work ethic. Of course, Nani also has immense quality to go alongside the intangibles and he showed that to full effect against Atlanta United with an assist and a late winning goal, taking his tallies to eight scored and five provided so far this season. Can he add to that in another rivalry match?
  • Inter Miami: Gonzalo Higuain‘s MLS stay has certainly been polarising, with one-off match-winning performances breaking up periods of anonymity. But it was Higuain’s brace that won the three points for Inter Miami against CF Montreal last time out, while he’s scored seven of the Herons’ 12 MLS goals so far this season. When he turns up, Neville can feel confident of a result and he’ll need the former Argentina international at his best against a talented Orlando side.
