Games are coming thick and fast in the EuroLeague now as teams face two rounds within just a few days. Olympiacos go into round 10 of the 2022/23 EuroLeague season second in the table with a record of 6-3, trailing only Fenerbahce and their 8-1 start. Olympiacos had a brilliant start to the season which saw them win each of their opening four matches, to be one of just two perfect sides left at that point, but they have suffered slightly since. One defeat turned to two, with Valencia taking victory from Piraeus, but Olympiacos did recover to beat Partizan and Bayern Munich. There was another defeat last time out, however, as Maccabi Tel Aviv pulled off a great comeback in the final quarter to win 90-84 having trailed by six points.
ALBA Berlin, on the other hand, are having a season to forget so far. Although they are just two wins off the playoff spots, the German side will certainly have hoped to be doing better than their 3-6 record after nine games. And things started so well. Like Olympiacos, ALBA Berlin were perfect after three games but saw their winning start come to an end at the hands of defending champions Alba Berlin.
While Olympiacos were able to steady their ship eventually, ALBA Berlin have spiralled and are struggling to get out of their funk. ALBA Berlin have now lost six consecutive games in EuroLeague, the worst losing streak of the season and they are actually tied with five other teams on a record of 3-6 – with no team losing more or winning fewer. Among the teams to have beaten ALBA Berlin are Crvena vzezda and Bayern Munich, both of whom are below them in the table. Crvena zvezda’s victory last time out also saw them come from three points down at half-time to eventually win in overtime.
