Will Gabriel Jesus make his unofficial debut?

Ahead of flying out to Germany for a mini training camp at adidas’ HQ in Herzogenaurach the Gunners completed the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. The Brazilian forward subsequently reunited with former City assistant manager Mikel Arteta and penned a five-year contract. Although nominally a centre-forward Jesus was regularly used on the flanks by Pep Guardiola who appreciated his off the ball work.

With that being said, Jesus netted 95 times for City across 233 appearances in all competitions. It remains to be seen how Arteta will utilise Jesus, but with Alexandre Lacazette returning to Lyon it leaves Eddie Nketiah as Jesus’ most viable competition for that centre-forward role.

Elsewhere fellow summer recruits attacking midfielder Fábio Vieira and right winger Marquinhos will be looking to get their first unofficial minutes as Arsenal players. Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, who stepped up for the north Londoners last season, will be looking to kick on. Following their work in Herzogenaurach the 13-time English champions will move south to face 2. Bundesliga outfit FC Nurnberg in a pre-season friendly. This will be Arsenal’s second run out of pre-season, previously beating Ipswich Town 5-1 in a behind-closed-doors match at their London Colney training ground, with Eddie Nketiah scoring a hat-trick and being joined on the scoresheet by Sambi Lokonga and Folarin Balogun.
