Nottingham Forest and Derby County will face each other this Friday at 19:45pm (UK time) in the first East Midlands derby of the season.
Nottingham Forest made a terrible start to the season under the guidance of Sabri Lamouchi, who was sacked after four consecutive defeats. However, the team look much better since the arrival of Chris Hughton, who has managed to collect four points from the last two league outings.
The Reds are now back on home soil where they are yet to win a single game in the Championship this season. Their recent home form reads four defeats and two draws in the last six Championship games, including matches from the previous season. The good news is that Hughton’s men are unbeaten in eight home meetings with Derby County, winning five.
Derby County are in the same boat as Nottingham Forest, as they have also had an awful start to this Championship campaign. Derby have suffered five defeats in six league games so far this season, which includes a narrow 1-0 loss at Huddersfield in midweek. The most worrying fact is that the Rams have only scored two goals in six games, which is the second-worst offensive record in the division. Away from home, they did well to win at Norwich before the international break, but Tuesday’s defeat at Huddersfield was a disappointment to say the least. Derby haven’t won against Nottingham since 2017 and have only scored once in the most recent six meetings with the Reds.
Will Nottingham Forest record another positive result here? Or will the Rams get back to winning ways in the Championship?

Nottingham Forest and Derby County’s previous line-ups:
- Nottingham Forest (vs Rotherham): Samba, Christie, Figueiredo, McKenna, Ioannou, Yates, Colback, Lolley, Freeman, Ameobi, Grabban.
- Derby County (vs Huddersfield): Marshall, Wisdom, Davies, Clarke, Buchanan, Shinnie, Bird, Byrne, Knight, Lawrence, Jozwiak.
Nottingham Forest will be without Fouad Bachirou, Tyler Blackett and Joe Worrall. However, we expect both Lewis Grabban and Sammy Ameobi to lead the attacking line, especially after Ameobi’s equaliser against Rotherham last time out.
Player-coach Wayne Rooney won’t play in this clash, as he has been ruled out. Louie Sibley, Jordon Ibe and Krystian Bielik are still on the sidelines although they are expected to be back in the squad very soon. Martyn Waghorn came off the bench in midweek and is in contention to start.
