Niko Kovac: Harry Kane is one of the top four strikers in the world
Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has lavished praise upon Harry Kane, describing him as one of the four best strikers today.
The 26-year-old Tottenham Hotspur marksman will line up against the German powerhouse in this season’s Champions League group phase on Tuesday.
How good is Kane? Five key things to know…
- Harry Kane has scored 170 goals across 261 matches for Spurs.
- He is currently the club’s fourth all-time top scorer, 97 goals behind leader Jimmy Greaves.
- To date, Kane has bagged 15 goals in 20 Champions League appearances.
- His six goals at the 2018 World Cup earned him the Golden Boot.
- Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac feels he’s among the very best in his position.
Bayern’s trip to north London will mark Kane’s 21st appearance in European football’s premier club competition; to date he’s bagged 15 goals including five en route to Spurs reaching last year’s final.
Since breaking into Spurs’ first team, Kane has registered 170 goals across 261 outings, as well as 26 goals in 41 matches for England, subsequently becoming a feared striker and respected finisher across the game.
From being a relative unknown during his early years, the Londoner now has a strong case as being considered one of the best No. 9s around, which Bayern boss Kovac acknowledges, though he does feel there are others who can present a strong challenge, including his very own capable centre-forward Robert Lewandowski.

“I can say something about Harry Kane but there is no need to do so,” he told reporters.
“People sitting in front of me have already said everything there is to say about him, every word is already too much. His quality in the Premier League but also in the England squad speaks for itself, he’s sensational.
“He’s a player that can do it all. He is great at keeping the ball, he’s good with his head, there is nothing he cannot do. He’s a very strong striker. Him and Lewandowski are probably in the top three, four in the world. That’s the way it is at the moment.
“Both of them are hugely successful and I look forward to seeing out things pan out tomorrow. I am going to give my team some information about Harry Kane which I am not going to tell you.”
