Kyrgios has been enjoying himself in recent weeks, going far in tournaments being used as warm ups for Wimbledon which starts soon. At both the Stuttgart Open and the Halle Open, Kyrgios reached the semi-finals before losing to Andy Murray and Hubert Hurkacz respectively.

The Australian will be hoping to go at least one further in Mallorca this week, and entered the first round as special exempt (being unable to take part in qualifying). His first opponent of the 2022 Mallorca Open was Serbian Laslo Dere and Kyrgios needed to come from behind to earn his spot in the second round, eventually winning 5-7, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (1).

But Bautista-Agut will be looking to rain on Kyrgios’ parade. The world no. 20 — fifth seed for the Mallorca Open — also entered the tournament in the first round with only the top four seeds earning byes to the second round.

The Spaniard’s road to the second round was a lot more straightforward than his opponent’s, however, as Bautista-Agut beat qualifier Taro Daniel in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (4). Now, Bautista-Agut will be looking to build on his decent run at the Halle Open, having reached the quarter-finals before losing to Daniil Medvedev.

Prediction: Nick Kyrgios to win in three sets
