Neymar has further fanned the flames of a Paris Saint-Germain departure after revealing his most cherished footballing memory is Barcelona’s ‘Remontada’ over the Parisians.

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with a move to La Liga this summer and has already annoyed the PSG hierarchy by reporting late to pre-season training.

Could Neymar leave PSG? Five things to know…

  • Neymar has seen his name heavily associated with a return to Barca.
  • PSG sporting director Leonardo has already stated that Neymar can leave the club, but only for the right price.
  • Club president Nassar Al-Khelaifi has also added to the rumours by suggesting he wants to stamp out the “superstar behaviour”.
  • Many believe those comments were aimed at the Brazilian forward.
  • The 27-year-old has now agitated his current employers even further by suggesting Barca’s ‘Remontada’ against PSG is his favourite memory in the sport.

Neymar has now added further fuel to the fire after he suggested winning Olympic gold with Brazil ranks alongside Barca’s famous 6-1 win against PSG in the Champions League, which saw them overturn a 4-0 first leg deficit.

Speaking at a charity event with Instituto Neymar, the foundation he set up in 2013, he said: “When we won against PSG with Barcelona it was completely… we all went crazy afterwards.

“I believe it was the best feeling for all of us.

“The ‘Remontada’ against Paris, what we felt when we scored the sixth goal… I have never felt anything like this. It was incredible!”

Neymar bagged a late brace in that match at the Camp Nou in 2017 before Sergi Roberto netted the decisive 95th minute winner to send Catalonia into raptures.

Will Barca land Neymar?

Much like their bitter adversaries, Real Madrid, Barcelona appear to be pulling out all the stops this summer to bolster their squad.

President Josep Maria Bartomeu has overseen the acquisition of no fewer than four players, with Frenkie de Jong from Ajax and Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid the two standout signings.

It is therefore unlikely the club will acquire the services of another global superstar in Neymar, though the Brazilian appears to be hinting at a move if his social media activity is anything to go by.

The PSG forward recently posted an Instagram story of a message from the Old Testament accompanied by a picture of himself in a black and white Barca kit.

The intention of the video is yet to be deciphered, though many have pointed to the Barca shirt as a clear indication of his intentions to leave the French capital.
