Eddie Howe is the current favourite with Paddy Power to replace Steve Bruce as pressure grows on the current Newcastle United boss.

A 3-0 defeat to Arsenal on Monday night extended a miserable run of no wins in nine games, scoring just once in their last seven.

Newcastle currently sit 15th, seven points above the relegation zone with Bruce now the second favourite in the Premier League sack race at 9/4 behind under-fire Chelsea boss Frank Lampard (8/15).

Leading Paddy Power’s market for the next permanent manager at St James’ Park is Eddie Howe at 7/2, with the 43-year-old without a club since parting company with Bournemouth at the end of last season.

Mark Hughes is the second favourite for the job at 4/1. The Welshman recently declared he is ready to return to management after over two years away from the dugout.

How about the return of Rafa Benitez? After three years in charge, the Spaniard left Tyneside in June 2019 after failing to agree a new deal with the club, later appointed head coach of Chinese Super League side Dalian Professional. A second spell in charge at Newcastle is currently priced at 4/1.

Swansea City boss Steve Cooper is available at 6/1 with former France and Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc (10/1) and club legend Alan Shearer (15/2) outside bets.
