The transfer window has stepped up a notch in recent days, with a series of big-money deals edging ever closer.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has hinted that it could be time to seek a new challenge, sparking speculation of a move to Real Madrid, while Neymar has been linked with a sensational return to Barcelona.

Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt continues to tease all of Europe’s top clubs and Aaron Wan-Bissaka remains a wanted man, despite his shaky display during England Under-21s’ defeat to France.

However, it seems that Manchester United are ready to turn to Norwich City youngster Max Aarons if a deal for the Crystal Palace full-back falls through.

Aarons enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Championship last term and would surely save Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men a significant amount of money. Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj has also been highlighted as another potential option to be explored by Old Trafford chiefs.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of splashing the cash to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri, who has often been cited as the man capable of replacing an ageing Fernandinho.

Back to Neymar and one man who could profit from the Brazilian’s Barcelona u-turn is Ousmane Dembele.

The Frenchman has not settled at the Camp Nou and reports suggest he could be open to a move to PSG in order to link up with compatriot Kylian Mbappe.
