Nico Schulz: Inter Milan has always been my dream team

Hoffenheim and Germany midfielder Nico Schulz has revealed that he dreams of playing for Serie A giants Inter Milan.

The 25-year-old scored a last-minute winner for Germany on Sunday as Die Mannschaft overcame Holland 3-2 in Amsterdam.

Who is Nico Schulz? Five key things to know…

  •  Age: 01/04/1993
  •  Position(s): Left-back/midfield
  •  Senior career path: Hertha BSC, Borussia Monchengladbach, Hoffenheim
  •  Total senior appearances: 207
  •  Did you know? Both of Schulz’ two Germany goals so far have been winners scored on 85+ minutes.

And speaking to German website t-online.de, Schulz revealed his ambition to one day join Inter, while he also harbours an ambition to play consistent football at Europe’s highest level.

“I would like to play for a European top club one day. There are some extraordinary clubs that play in the Champions League every year,” he said.

“It is still a dream for me and Inter has always been my dream team. I am very calm, especially because I am in a big club like Hoffenheim already and I feel very good. Even if I do not leave the club, I will still be a happy person.”

The midfielder’s winning goal against Holland on Sunday was his second for Germany so far, with the other a decisive strike in the 85th minute of a 2-1 friendly win over Peru in 2018.

Following the win over Ronald Koeman’s side, Germany manager Joachim Low praised the belief and fight of his new-look, young team, especially having initially thrown away a 2-0 lead.

“A game like this belongs to the process which such a young team must go through,’ Low told the Daily Mail after the game.

“What I liked was that we believed in it again. The team showed terrific fight and we had a little of the game luck that we have been missing sometimes recently.

“In the first half we really played very, very well with the strikers putting together some very, very good processes.”

Germany’s next match is away to Belarus in June.
