Manchester United vs Crystal Palace team news

Ruben Amorim’s side are almost at full strength, as they await the return of just three players.

Last week, the Portuguese boss revealed that Luke Shaw will join his United team-mates in training soon but is still unavailable.

Mason Mount and Jonny Evans are also recovering from injuries and will not be back until some point in February.

Meanwhile, Palace will be five men short for their trip to Manchester, as Oliver Glasner’s side seek their third straight away win.

Adam Wharton’s return to training is thought to be imminent but he is unlikely to play for a few more weeks.

On the other hand, Matheus Franca is now back on the grass with the first team, but he missed Palace’s defeat by Brentford last week and is set to be out again on Sunday.

Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad are both battling knee injuries, and there is currently no timeline for their returns, according to Glasner. Capping off Palace’s injury woes is Joel Ward, who is still sidelined with a calf strain.

Man United’s Old Trafford woes

Three of United’s last four Premier League home matches have ended in defeat by at least a two-goal margin, while three of Crystal Palace’s previous four league road games have seen them win by a two-goal margin.

The Red Devils have suffered six home league defeats this season, the joint-most since the 1893-94 season, when they were known as Newton Heath.

At this rate, United are on track to finish the season on 48 points, blowing their previous record-low of 58 points in a Premier League campaign out of the water.

This disastrous record comes amid Amorim admitting that his United side are “maybe the worst in the club’s history” a couple of weeks ago.

Palace have lost just one of their last six league games against United and will certainly feel that the hosts are there for the taking on Sunday.
