Manchester City vs AC Milan team news
Manchester City fielded an inexperienced team in their first game against Celtic and a similar story looks likely against AC Milan. Much of Man City’s experienced core are still recovering from a busy summer of international football.
Ederson has also been linked with a move away so looks unlikely to play in this game after coming off the bench against the Hoops.
Kalvin Phillips looks likely to leave too but also played the first half against Celtic. His withdrawal was supposedly down to him easing back into playing following injury issues.
Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, Tijjani Reijnders are expected to miss out while new signing Alvaro Morata will also be absent following Spain’s win at Euro 2024.
Manchester City vs AC Milan predicted lineups

Guardiola full of praise for team despite defeat
Pep Guardiola selected an inexperienced side for Manchester City’s first friendly of the new campaign and despite defeat to Celtic, he chose to take the positives.
“I saw many good things from the new and old players. It wasn’t easy, we have senior players up front and the back four eight or nine who are so young,” he told reporters.
“It’s difficult in one department when there are so many who are young but I saw many good things. Oscar and Rico [Lewis] are always at a high level.”
Oscar Bobb netted the Citizens’ first goal but a brace from Nicholas Kuhn and goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Luis Palma were enough to see the Bhoys record the win.
With many of their top players having featured at either Euro 2024 or Copa America, Guardiola has taken an inexperienced squad to this pre-season tour.
Fourteen academy graduates featured in the 90 minutes for the defending Premier League champions.
Guardiola was keen to heap praise on Celtic for their victory and also emphasise the importance of pre-season games as a starting point for the season ahead, starting with this game against Milan.
“Many things I saw were nice. We created chances, but they are so good with the pace and quality they have. You have to experience these situations in pre-season and we’ll use it from here.”
