Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expects to be able to call upon Mohamed Salah for his side’s final Premier League game of the season.

The Egyptian missed Liverpool’s dramatic Champions League semi-final comeback against Barcelona in midweek due to a concussion sustained in Liverpool’s win over Newcastle United the previous weekend.

How will Liverpool line up against Wolves? Five key things to know…

  1. Liverpool go into Sunday’s game against Wolves harbouring slim hopes of winning the Premier League.
  2. The Reds sit a point behind Manchester City, who face Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season.
  3. And Liverpool will be able to call upon Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson for the visit of Wolves.
  4. Salah missed the 4-0 win over Barcelona in midweek through injury while Robertson had to come off at half-time.
  5. However, Sunday will be too soon for Roberto Firmino who is still suffering with a muscle injury.

But with Liverpool hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday hanging onto their slim hopes of winning the Premier League, Salah is expected to be back among the starting XI.

Klopp told reporters: “Mo looked good around the celebrations after the game, to be honest!

“The day before yesterday and yesterday he was running outside and will be part of training today.”

Though not reaching the absurd heights of last season, Salah has had another excellent campaign for Liverpool and leads the race for the Golden Boot with 22 goals.

And the Egyptian is 3/1 with BetBull to be the first goalscorer at Anfield on Sunday, joint-favourite alongside the equally-impressive Sadio Mane.

Liverpool will also be able to call upon Andrew Robertson who had to come off at half-time against Barcelona with a calf injury – which forced Klopp into the game-changing substitution of Georginio Wijnaldum.

“The famous three words of this week in the dressing room: ‘It’s only pain’,” he added.

“Very important for all the young lads to learn, I’ve said that already to the boys. Hendo said, ‘It’s only pain’, Robbo said, ‘It’s only pain’ – but it was real pain, wow!

“Unfortunately, Robbo could deal with the pain but only the rest of his body couldn’t because he couldn’t really activate the muscle anymore, some nerve hit or whatever. They should be fine [for Sunday].”

However, Sunday is expected to be too soon for Roberto Firmino though Klopp is holding out hope for a return in the Champions League final.

He said: “Bobby not [available] for the weekend, but we have time [before the Champions League final] and that should be enough.”

Wolves ready to fight at Anfield

Even with seventh secured, Wolves are likely to be looking to end their season on a high by taking more points off a top-six side.

Only Liverpool and Manchester City have won more points against the so-called ‘Big Six’ than Wolves this season, and Nuno Espirito Santo will have a fully fit squad to choose from on Sunday.

“We will come to compete,” Espirito Santo told reporters.

“Our focus is always on our preparations, to play game and be focused on our tasks.

“The players rise for every game, every training session, every moment. That is our philosophy. To prepare ourselves for competition, to prepare ourselves for a big game, and we want to play it.”
