Girona vs Arsenal team news
Three Girona players will likely watch their Champions League campaign draw to a close from the comfort of their homes, with two injured and one suspended.
Rumoured Manchester United left-back target, Miguel Gutierrez, is expected to be out with a shin injury until the middle of February. Ladislav Krejci suffered a hip issue recently and will miss a matter of weeks for the La Liga outfit.
Bryan Gil is suspended will be unavailable on Girona’s left wing after picking up his third yellow card in their 1-0 defeat by AC Milan last week.
For Arsenal, Mikel Arteta will have to make do without his star man, Bukayo Saka, as the England international is still recovering from his long-term hamstring injury.
Another star dealing with a major injury is Gabriel Jesus, who ruptured his ACL earlier this month, and will likely be unavailable until the latter stages of 2025.

Ben White has been out of training for the last two weeks and is expected to be back in action some time next month.
Also absent from the Gunners’ back line is Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is progressing in his recovery from a second knee injury of the season, but is still not match fit.
Lastly, Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard are doubtful with minor issues; the former managing a knock and the Norwegian captain battling an illness after missing Arsenal’s game against Wolves on Saturday.
Kai Havertz’s fiery European form
Only Thierry Henry (seven) has ever scored more than five goals in a Champions League campaign for Arsenal. The Gunners legend did it in back-to-back seasons; once in 2001-02 and again the following term.
Havertz has the opportunity to join this one-man list if he nets a brace against Girona. The German has scored four goals in the competition this season, tied with Bukayo Saka as Arsenal’s top goalscorer in Europe.
Havertz has also scored more than any other Arsenal player in the Premier League and, in light of their weakened forward line, must step up to the plate and carry their attacking load for the forseeable future.
He started the season off on fire, equalling Robin van Persie’s record by scoring in seven consecutive matches at the Emirates Stadium. But he has slowed down since, scoring just three times in December and twice this month.
Girona languish down in 31st place in the Champions League table, having picked up one win and six losses in their seven games this season.
Pride aside, they have nothing to play for in the competition with their exit already sealed. Wednesday night’s trip to the east coast of Spain presents the perfect opportunity for Havertz to add to his impressive goalscoring record in Europe for Arsenal.
