How both teams go into Finland vs Switzerland

Finland have bowed out of the group stage in their past two Women’s European Championship appearances. They’ll be hoping to end that run with another quarter-final appearance — their first since 2009. Finland haven’t won a game at the Women’s Euros since that run to the quarter-final, drawing two and losing four of their six past six matches. Of course, that run could have ended by the time Finland face Switzerland. Or it could have continued and Finland may already be out.

As hosts, Switzerland will hope to either be guaranteed a spot in the quarter-finals of Women’s Euro 2025 or have their destiny in their own hands. They don’t have a good record at the Women’s European Championship, with group stage exits in each of their two appearances. But with the support of the home crowd, Switzerland will dream. It’s worth noting that Opta’s pre-tournament predictions from May gave Switzerland the highest chance of finish bottom of Group A.
