Chelsea’s January signing Christian Pulisic has expressed his excitement at the “dream” prospect of competing in the Premier League next season.
The United States international completed a deal to join the west London club in the winter transfer window from Borussia Dortmund.
Where will Pulisic play at Chelsea? Five key things to know…
- Pulisic joined the Blues in January for £57.5m but was loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of the season.
- He will join up with his new teammates this summer upon the expiration of his loan deal in Germany.
- The Blues are currently banned from signing any senior players for the next two transfer windows.
- Eden Hazard looks destined to leave for Real Madrid while Callum Hudson-Odoi ruptured his Achilles tendon last month.
- As such, Maurizio Sarri should have no problem finding room in his starting XI for Pulisic.
Pulisic’s £57.5m move to the Blues required him to spend the second half of the season at the Signal Iduna Park, where the 20-year-old winger will look to help Die Borussen clinch the Bundesliga title on Saturday.
The odds are heavily stacked against the German club, with Bayern Munich needing just a single point against Eintracht Frankfurt to clinch a seventh successive Meisterschale.
And while Pulisic’s immediate focus remains firmly on the crucial Borussen derby against Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend, the Pennsylvania-born forward couldn’t hide his excitement towards realising a “dream” move to the Premier League.
“It feels amazing and I’m super excited to get started with Chelsea,” he told the club’s official website.
“Obviously I have a season to finish off with Dortmund but I’m definitely looking forward to be here [with Chelsea]. It’s going to be an amazing experience, one I can’t wait for, and to be here in England, speaking English again and meeting all the guys is something I’m thrilled for.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for this and playing in the Premier League has been one of my biggest dreams. To be a Chelsea player is a huge honour and something I’m really excited for.”

“I’m excited to play alongside N’Golo Kante”
Pulisic will link up with his new teammates this summer when his four-year stint in Dortmund reaches a close, and the American has spoken of his eagerness to play with some of the biggest names in the sport.
One of those is midfield engine and World Cup winner N’Golo Kante, who has been a pivotal cog in Sarri’s machine this season, though his more advanced role has often been a bone of contention among the Chelsea faithful.
Despite this, Pulisic has name-checked the Frenchman as the player he is most looking forward to working alongside.
He added: “There are so many great players here already and I can’t wait to work with them all.
“I’m excited to play alongside N’Golo Kante, I think he’s a fantastic player and I can’t wait to meet him.
“Also there’s the guys in the backline, players like David Luiz and [Toni] Rudiger, I’m looking forward to working with them and I think it’s going to be really cool.”
