Villa Park is the venue for this showdown, which will be televised on Sky Sports Premier League, between two teams well in the hunt to secure Champions League football next season.
Aston Villa Double Chance & Both Teams to Score (19/20 with Sky Bet)
Aston Villa have not lost at home in all competitions since their defeat by Arsenal back in August. Unai Emery’s side put in a magnificent performance with their victory over PSG on Tuesday and they proved they can go toe-to-toe with the teams at Europe’s top table. This is a massive game for both sides, but Newcastle are also in excellent form with six consecutive wins across all competitions.
Both teams to score has landed in 13 of 16 home matches this season, the highest in the Premier League. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in 11 of their last 12 Premier League matches and it’s not hard to envisage this being a high-scoring affair on Saturday.
Jacob Murphy To Score or Assist & John McGinn to be Carded (10/1 with Paddy Power)
Only Mo Salah and Alexander Isak have managed more goal contributions since the start of December than Jacob Murphy. The Newcastle man has managed 11 assists, more than any other English player in the league this season. He has found the net or provided an assist in all of his last five matches and can do so again here, with his confidence sky-high.
The magnitude of this game should not be underestimated, with both teams vying for qualification to the Champions League. A high card-count looks likely and the player I’m targeting is John McGinn. He has conceded 2+ fouls in six of his last nine, and was booked in the win over PSG on Tuesday. Combining McGinn to be carded with Murphy to score or assist pays 10/1 with Paddy Power via the Bet Builder feature.

How both teams go into Aston Villa vs Newcastle
Villa appear to have hit form at exactly the right time this season. Unai Emery’s side, at the time of writing, having won nine of their last ten matches across all competitions.
Unai Emery’s side were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday, despite winning the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain. It was a valiant effort and one that earned them plenty of plaudits around Europe. Still, Villa have plenty to play for with an FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace to look forward to. A second successive top-four finish is well within reach for Villa, though Newcastle are among the teams aiming to pip them to the spot.
The Magpies will definitely be playing European football in some form next season, following their fairytale Carabao Cup triumph last month. But Eddie Howe will be aiming high, and a positive result here would certainly boost their hopes of playing in the Champions League next term. Newcastle have won six consecutive matches and now find themselves just four points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.
Aston Villa team news
Villa will be hoping they have no fresh injury concerns following their Champions League quarter-final second leg against PSG. Leon Bailey should be back in contention, while Ross Barkley is now available following a knee injury.
Newcastle team news
Lewis Hall, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are the only absentees for the visitors.
Aston Villa vs Newcastle head-to-head
Newcastle have prevailed in five of the last six meetings between the sides.
