Sheffield United welcome Newcastle to Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening looking to end their long wait for a first Premier League win of the season.

The Blades sit 12 points from safety after just 17 matches and time is running out for Chris Wilder to turns things around.

For Newcastle, who are enjoying the relative calm of mid-table, it’s a golden chance to pull 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

Callum Wilson to score first 4/1

Newcastle have scored first in 44 per cent of their matches this season with Wilson grabbing the opening goal on three occasions. Sheffield United meanwhile have conceded the first goal in 13 of their 17 matches and have lost four of their eight home games 1-0.

Callum Wilson to score a brace 10/1

Callum Wilson has scored eight goals in 14 Premier League matches since joining Newcastle and will look forward to baring his teeth against one of the leakiest defences in the division. The 28-year-old has twice scored a brace for the Magpies and their reliance on his prowess up top is underlined by the fact Jeff Hendrick is the club’s next top scorer with just two goals.

Despite Sheffield United’s struggles this term, David McGoldrick has had his moments in front of goal. McGoldrick has scored 50 per cent of the Blades’ league goals this season, with strikes against Manchester United (2), Chelsea and Arsenal in just 11 starts. Newcastle have kept just three clean sheets all season and Wilder will fancy a goal or two for his side tonight.

Newcastle to win 2-0 16/1

That’s perhaps why Newcastle are such long odds to see out a comfortable 2-0 victory at Bramall Lane. However, Sheffield United have failed to score in 62 per cent of home matches this season, losing-to-nil on each occasion. Add to that the fact that Newcastle have scored more than one goal in each of their five Premier League wins this term and it starts to look good value at 16/1.
