Denver breezed through the Western Conference Finals with three games to spare, inflicting a dominant 4-0 series drought on the Los Angeles Lakers.
Meanwhile, Miami went through the mill on the way to becoming only the second eighth seed to make it through to the NBA Finals.
The Heat raced into a 3-0 lead against the Boston Celtics, only for the 2022 runners-up to fight back and level, but held their nerve in Game 7 to eventually scrape over the line.
The Nuggets prevailed on both occasions the sides met during the regular season – albeit by a single-digit margin each time. And they continued that dominance in the NBA Finals, winning the series 4-1 to secure a first ever championship. A 94-89 victory in Denver was the cherry on the cake, confirming the series win in front of their own fans, with Nikola Jovic playing a starring role.
