Napoli hosts Cagliari for a Serie A showdown at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday evening (19:45 UK time).
Luciano Spalletti’s men come into this latest matchday as the only club left in Italy’s top division with a perfect record. It’s the opposite with their visitors who are seeking a first win of this season.

Napoli vs Cagliari build-up & previous line-ups:
It’s been nothing short of a dream start for Luciano Spalletti who inherited the Napoli hotseat this summer. The 62-year-old tactician arrived in Naples with a formidable Serie A pedigree. Despite having never lifted the Scudetto he’s finished runner-up on four previous occasions (all with Roma). Heading into this latest round of fixtures the Neapolitans are the league’s only perfect side having won each of their five opening games. Napoli also come into this Sunday’s match having registered back-to-back 4-0 away wins over Udinese and Sampdoria. Only once before have Napoli won their first six Serie A games to start a season, that was back in 2017/18, when they won eight in-a-row.
Things could not be anymore different regarding Cagliari who are winless coming into Sunday’s showdown. Walter Mazzarri’s men have only two points to show for their efforts so far this season. Cagliari’s campaign began with a 2-2 home draw with Spezia before registering consecutive losses to AC Milan and Genoa, they would recover by snatching a point from the jaws of victory at Lazio, but last time out Empoli inflicted a 0-2 loss on them at home. From a historical outlook, Cagliari are unbeaten in their last two games at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Serie A (one win and one draw), but they’ve also lost 15 of their last 20 top-flight matches against The Parthenopeans.

Player to watch: Piotr Zielinski (Napoli)
Napoli’s opponents this weekend are significant in Piotr Zielinski’s career. It was against Cagliari in December 2012 when the 27-year-old Polish midfielder made his Serie A debut. Back then Zielinski was representing Udinese whom he left for “the little donkeys” in 2016. So far this season he’s been used sparingly, Zielinski has started just two of Napoli’s opening five league fixtures, missing their matchday two meeting against Genoa due to a dead leg. Cagliari also just happens to be one of his favourite opponents in Italy’s top division. He’s previously scored three goals past them only against Milan (four) has the Pole been more prolific.
