Napoli vs; Atalanta build-up, pre-match team news and previous line-ups:
Atalanta are one of just two teams left in Serie A with a perfect record, winning all three of their opening games so far. They have, naturally, been the most exciting team to watch too. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have scored at least four goals in all three of their games, winning 4-2, 4-1 and 5-2 so far, to sit above AC Milan on goal difference.
Meanwhile Napoli are down in eighth having been handed a 3-0 defeat to Juventus and docked one point, after failing to fulfil the fixture prior to the international break. It put a dampener on Napoli’s own perfect start in which they had won both of their opening games without conceding, beating Parma and Genoa 2-0 and 6-0 respectively.
But now Gennaro Gattuso will be looking to get his side back on track against a side they have struggled to beat in recent times, failing to win the past three meetings.
- Napoli (vs Genoa): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Manolas, Koulibaly, Hysaj; Fabian, Zielinski*; Lozano, Mertens, Insigne*; Osimhen.
- Atalanta (vs Cagliari): Sportiello; Djimsiti, Palomino, Romero; Hateboer, Pasalic, De Roon, Gosens; Gomez; Muriel, Zapata.
Atalanta have come through the international break unscathed and look to be able to name a full strength squad for this weekend’s match. Napoli, though will be without Piotr Zielinski and Elif Elmas and Lorenzo Insigne, with the latter nursing a hamstring injury.

Players to watch:
Napoli: Hirving Lozano had a difficult first season at Napoli following his move from PSV, scoring just four Serie A goals but also having to make do with a substitute role (16 of his 26 Serie A appearances were off the bench). But following the departure of Jose Callejon in the summer, Lozano has been given his chance in the starting XI, and it’s one he has taken. Despite being a winger, Lozano’s game is very much about the goals, as shown by his 40 strikes in 79 games for PSV. And in two games so far this season he has scored two goals, already halfway to his 2019/20 tally. They both came in Napoli’s 6-0 win over Genoa at the end of September, opening the scoring and grabbing the fourth before being taken off. With Atalanta happy to concede chances at times, given how attacking their team can be, Lozano’s partnership with Dries Mertens could be key to getting the goals.
Atalanta: Alejandro Gomez is once again the man for Atalanta and, despite turning 33 in a few months, it doesn’t look like he plans on stopping any time soon. The Argentinian was at the heart of Atalanta’s exciting team last season that challenged for the Serie A title and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, scoring eight goals and recording 18 assists. In three games already this season, the 32-year-old has scored four times and recorded two assists, being directly involved in more goals than any other player in Serie A so far. Gomez’s four goals have been spread evenly across the three games, but he has never scored in four consecutive Serie A matches. And it will be a tough task for him to do so against Napoli, who have done well to prevent him from scoring in Serie A since December 2015. But this is Papu, he will get the chance.
