Morocco will be looking to secure their spot in the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations when they face Comoros on Friday at 4pm (UK time).

Given the nature of groups at major tournaments, you often find teams able to qualify after two matches and that could be the case for Morocco. After their 1-0 win over Ghana in their Group C opener, victory over Comoros would all but guarantee their spot in the last 16, even if it meant finishing as one of the best ranked third-placed teams. Comoros, meanwhile, will be looking to keep their hopes alive after losing 1-0 to Gabon in their opening game.

Morocco team news

Morocco came through their group opener pretty much unscathed, so manager Vahid Halilhodzic will have the freedom to choose any XI he feels is necessary – whether he opts to rotate slightly or go full-strength to secure qualification now. However, he will still be without Ayoub El Kaabi and Aymen Barkok who both missed the win over Ghana due to COVID.

Morocco predicted XI: Bono; Hakimi, Saiss, Aguerd, Masina; Fajr, Amrabat, Amallah; Ounahi, Aboukhlal, Boufal.

Comoros team news

Comoros have been very fortunate with their team so far and have no injuries or COVID absences as things stand, so can put their all into trying to get their first point in Africa Cup of Nations history, currently making their tournament debut.

Comoros predicted XI: Ahamada; Abdallah, Zahary, M’Dahoma, Bakari; Bachirou, Mattoir; M Youssouf, M’Changama, B Youssouf; El Fardou-Ben.

Scoreline prediction: Morocco 1-0 Comoros
