FC Porto will look to keep the pressure on Primeira Liga leaders Sporting CP when they travel to Moreirense on Monday at 9:15pm (UK time).

Sérgio Conceição’s side trail Sporting by seven points but have a game in hand on the unbeaten league leaders. Moreirense, meanwhile, are eighth but still not out of relegation trouble just yet.

Moreirense vs FC Porto build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

Moreirense picked up a valuable point with a 0-0 draw against Santa Clara last time out, leaving them eighth in the table with just six games to go. However, thanks to the incredibly close nature of the Primeira Liga table this season, Vasco Seabra’s side remain just seven points clear of the relegation playoff spot while 10 points separate them from the automatic drop zone.

Porto head to Guimarães on a seven-game winning streak in league play, keeping them hot on the heels of Sporting despite the league leaders going unbeaten in 2020/21 so far. The Dragons can cut the gap between themselves and their rivals to just four points with a win here and won’t be keen on giving up the title they’ve held in two out of the past three seasons just yet.

  • Moreirense (vs Santa Clara): Pasinato; D’Alberto, Rosic, Ba, Conte; Walterson, Pacheco, Franco, Pires*; Soares, Rafael.
  • FC Porto (vs Vitoria SC): Marchesin; Nanu, Mbemba, Pepe, Manafa; Corona, Oliveira, Uribe, Otavio; Marega, Taremi.

Felipe Pires picked up an injury against Santa Clara and joins Derik Lacerda, Pedro Amador and Pedro Nuno on the treatment table. As for Porto, they remain without Mouhamed Mbaye while Zaidu Sanusi is a doubt with a thigh problem.

Player to watch: Sergio Oliveira (FC Porto)

Some players hit the ground running from the off and others are late bloomers. Sergio Oliveira falls into the latter category.

Most well known for his defensive capabilities across his career, Oliviera has always had a quietly underrated eye for goal but this season, he’s taken that to a whole new level. Now 28, Oliveira has scored no fewer than 12 Primeira Liga goals in 2020/21 so far, more than any other Porto player, while he also notched an impressive five goals in eight Champions League appearances.

Oliviera has been a creative force for Conceição, too, providing five assists in league play, only Jesus Corona (7) and Mehdi Taremi (6) have managed more.

The Portugal international is going to play a critical role if Porto are to overhaul Sporting before the end of the season.
