Both teams are coming off round five losses. Milan suffered a disappointing 74-56 road defeat at FC Barcelona last time out after starting the game well before falling away in the second and third quarters. As for Real, they lost to Virtus Segafredo Bologna at WiZink Center. Despite standout individual performances from Gabriel Deck and Walter Tavares on the night, Real suffered its third loss in just five outings and its second across three games at home.
It’s fair to say the Real players are still getting used to the demands of new head coach Chus Mateo, but a win on the road here would at least be a big step in the right direction for Los Blancos. Should Real fall to 2-4, the pressure may start to build in the Spanish capital. As for Milan, they need to have a more consistent display if they are to beat Real. Brandon Davies was the only Milan player to get into double figures for scoring in Round 5, so others will need to step up to the hosts on Thursday night.
