AC Milan will have the opportunity to assume leadership of Serie A when they Torino visit Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Tuesday evening (19:45 UK time).

Stefano Pioli’s men are unbeaten after the opening nine rounds and find themselves level with present leaders Napoli who boast a better goal-difference hence why they sit on top. As for Il Toro will be seeking back-to-back league wins after recently ending a four-game winless streak.

AC Milan vs Torino build-up & previous line-ups:

Roma boss José Mourinho did his former adversaries Milan a favour by holding runaway Serie A leaders Napoli which means following their 2-4 win at Bologna the Rossoneri can assume leadership of Serie A albeit for 24 hours unless Luciano Spalletti’s men suffer a first league defeat at home this season. Both clubs, who remain the final unbeaten teams in Italy’s top division, are level on 25 points and Milan boast the league’s second-best attack behind city rivals Inter (24) having bagged 22 goals across the opening nine rounds. If we stretch back into last season then Stefano Pioli’s side come into this week’s game on a 14-match unbeaten run (12 wins and two draws). Since a 1-2 defeat to Sassuolo in April 2021 they’ve contested six home league games subsequently winning five times including the last four on the bounce. This winning streak, which has seen Milan net 11 times and concede on three occasions, has exclusively come during this campaign.

It’s a different story altogether regarding Torino who come into the 10th matchday of this season’s Serie A lying in mid-table and recently ending a four-game winless streak which included back-to-back defeats against city rivals Juventus and leaders Napoli albeit both of those games ended in the narrowest of margins (1-0). On the road, they’ve been unfortunate having lost two games by one goal (2-1 at Fiorentina and the aforementioned Napoli clash) as well as drawing 1-1 against Venezia that aside there was a slender 0-1 success at Sassuolo however that was Torino’s only win across their previous eight away matches. Also, you have to go back to March 1985 for The Bull’s 12th and most recent win at Milan, back then under Luigi Radice’s leadership, they claimed a 0-1 victory: Walter Schachner netting in the 61st minute past a Milanese side coached by Nils Liedholm that featured Mauro Tassotti, Franco Baresi and Ray Wilkins.

Player to watch: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Milan)

It’s never a dull moment with Zlatan Ibrahimovic who made his first start for Milan in Serie A this season against Verona last time out. The enigmatic 40-year-old Swedish centre-forward registered a goal, created another and put the ball into his own net as Milan ran out 2-4 winners on the road. He subsequently became the second player after Francesco Totti to register a Serie A assist while being aged 40 or above. His ever-greenness remains a potent weapon for Pioli though playing two games in such a short time frame could see Ibrahimovic potentially start on the bench. That being said, if he’s on the pitch, Ibrahimovic will undoubtedly give Torino something to think about. From a historical perspective, he’s faced them six times before in the Italian top-flight, registering three goals and two assists. In those previous meetings, Ibrahimovic has been on the winning side on five occasions with the other ending in a stalemate.
