AC Milan will be looking to keep their Champions League dreams alive when they host FC Porto at the San Siro on Wednesday evening (5:45pm UK time).
Stefano Pioli’s men have suffered three consecutive defeats coming into matchday four, including a narrow 1-0 loss at Porto last time out, and the seven-time winners could even be out of contention for a Europa League berth if certain results go against them.

AC Milan vs Porto build-up & previous line-ups:
Sitting unbeaten after their opening 11 league matches this season, which subsequently leaves them level on points with Serie A leaders Napoli, things couldn’t be more different for Milan in their first Champions League campaign after seven years away. Italy’s most decorated European Cup side head into matchday four having lost three on the bounce and overall they’re on a five-game losing streak which is the club’s longest run of consecutive defeats in tournament history. Given their aforementioned lengthy absence you have to go back to September 2013 for Milan’s last recorded home win (2-0 v Celtic) since then it’s been four matches played with two draws registered before successive defeats against Atletico Madrid.
A narrow 1-0 win last time out has somewhat boosted Porto’s chances of reaching the knockout phase. Sérgio Conceição’s men are level on four points with Atleti who’ll have a small matter of facing Liverpool at Anfield on the same evening. The Dragons come into this week’s San Siro showdown having only lost one of their last five away Champions League matches (three wins and one draw) after previously losing three in a row. It’s also worth noting on their last visit in 1996 they ran out 2-3 winners. What’s even more encouraging is the fact Porto have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five away games including in each of the club’s last two outings. The two-time European Cup winners last kept three consecutive away clean sheets in November 2012.

Player to watch: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan)
It was another milestone moment for the evergreen Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Milan’s last Serie A outing. Sweden’s all-time leading scorer netted his 400th domestic league goal as the Rossoneri claimed a 1-2 success at Roma thus strengthening their Scudetto case even this early into the 2021/22 season. Ibra has yet to leave his mark on the Champions League having played only 32 minutes to date. The 40-year-old marksman sat out Milan’s opening two fixtures with a frustrating achilles injury before coming off the bench in their loss at Porto a fortnight ago. Despite an illustrious career the European Cup has evaded his clutches but the enigmatic Swede nevertheless finds himself sitting two strikes away from a half century of goals. Of those still active, Ibrahimovic is the competition’s fifth most prolific scorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo (137), Lionel Messi (123), Robert Lewandowski (78), Karim Benzema (73) and Thomas Müller (49).
