AC Milan welcome Torino to the San Siro on Monday night for the final Serie A game of matchday 24.

The Rossoneri are starting to mount a climb up the championship table and now firmly believe European football is a possibility for next season.

As for Torino, their form couldn’t be more contrasting, although they sit in mid-table. The Bull are not a million miles away from the danger zone and cannot afford to coast during the second half of the campaign.

Ones to watch

AC Milan: Ante Rebić

The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has undoubtedly had a positive effect on his Milan teammates; none more so than Ante Rebic, who struggled for goals in the first half of this season. Since ringing in the new year, he’s been in deadly form, playing in multiple roles across Milan’s forward line, the Croatian forward has been a matchwinner on two occasions.

Key stat: Ante Rebić has scored four goals across his last four Serie A appearances.

Torino: Salvatore Sirigu

Speaking of Ibrahimovic, the Swedish marksman will be reunited with an old friend at the San Siro, someone he’ll no doubt want to make miserable. Salvatore Sirigu, whose job is to keep Milan at bay, played no fewer than 119 games alongside Ibrahimovic at PSG where they enjoyed a trophy laden time.

Key stat: Only Etrit Berisha (102) has made more saves in Serie A than Salvatore Sirigu (96).

Team news

AC Milan

Andrea Conti remains unavailable for AC Milan as he continues to serve a domestic suspension. Manager Stefano Pioli could retain the entire line-up he fielded against Juventus in their recent Coppa Italia semi-final first leg meeting, which means Simon Kjær continuing in defence alongside Alessio Romagnoli.

Predicted XI: Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Castillejo, Kessie, Bennacer, Rebic; Calhanoglu; Ibrahimovic.

Armando Izzo’s ban means Gleison Bremer, who scored a brace in the last meeting between the sides, is set to deputise in Torino’s back-three. Cristian Ansaldi, meanwhile, is vying to get the nod ahead of Ola Aina for the left wing-back berth.

Predicted XI: Sirigu; Lyanco, Nkoulou, Bremer; De Silvestri, Lukic, Rincon, Ansaldi; Verdi, Belotti, Berenguer.

Squawka prediction

Milan have been resurgent of late and only Lazio (13) and Hellas Verona (11) have picked up more Serie A points than Pioli’s team (10) in their last five games. They still have a long way to go before challenging for those European positions, but should overcome a Torino side that has lost their last four league matches on the bounce.

Scoreline prediction: AC Milan 2-0 Torino
