AC Milan welcome Liverpool for a Champions League showdown at the San Siro on Tuesday evening (8pm UK time).
After starting this campaign on a slow note, the hosts can reach the knockout stage with a win if the other Group B game (Porto v Atletico Madrid) ending in a stalemate. Liverpool, meanwhile, are seeking to end the group stage with a perfect record.

AC Milan team news
Stefano Pioli’s men will be looking to follow in Atalanta’s footsteps this week. Two seasons ago, their Serie A rivals lost their opening three group stage games, drew the fourth and then recorded consecutive wins to sneak into the knockout phase. Milan have repeated those first five steps and with the runners-up spot of Group B up for grabs, the Rossoneri can perform a similar great escape. However, they need to inflict defeat on Jurgen Klopp’s perfect team and hope the other match (Porto v Atletico) ends in a stalemate, all without Simon Kjær (knee) and Olivier Giroud (thigh). That’s easier said than done though, as Milan will be looking for their first victory against an English opposition in European competition since February 2012, when they won 4-0 against Arsenal in the Champions League last 16. They are winless in their last six clashes with Premier League opposition, losing five of those games.
AC Milan predicted XI: Maignan; Kalulu, Romagnoli, Tomori, Hernández; Kessie, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Díaz, Leão; Ibrahimović.
Liverpool team news
History potentially beckons for Liverpool who could become the first English team to record a 100% record in the Champions League group stage (including second group stages). The Reds also seek a sixth consecutive European Cup/UEFA Champions League win for the first time in their history. It will be understandable if Klopp decides to make a couple of changes but he cannot rely on the suspended James Milner and injured pair Roberto Firmino (hamstring) and Curtis Jones (eye) while there’s doubts over Joe Gomez and Naby Keïta’s availability. Alisson, however, should retain his spot in goal and since the start of the 2018/19 season only Manuel Neuer (16) has registered more clean sheets than him (14). If the Brazilian manages to keep Milan at bay then he would have bagged three consecutive Champions League clean sheets for the first time.
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Thiago, Morton, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Origi, Mané.
