Mexico kick off their World Cup preparations with a friendly match against African nation, Nigeria, at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on Sunday morning.

The Mexican national team are unbeaten in their last eight games and qualified for the World Cup with relative ease, albeit not with their usual level of confidence. They’ve also gone six games without conceding a goal with their defensive strengths shining through against their rivals in the CONCACAF region.

Nigeria haven’t been in such great form, failing to win any of their last three games and being unable to qualify for the World Cup after being knocked out of the Caf playoffs by Ghana. They’ve only scored once in those three games too, with the nation failing short of expectations in recent times.

The two nations have met five times previously and Nigeria have yet to beat their South American opponents with Mexico winning the last encounter in July last year by a 4-0 scoreline. It could be a similar outcome here with Mexico looking stronger than their opponents and a comfortable win should be on the cards for El Tri.

Scoreline prediction: Mexico 2-0 Nigeria
