Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea experience may have finally forced Juventus’ new boss to change his ways
New Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri has hinted he may relax his famously rigid style of play with the Turin giants.
The 60-year-old lasted just one season in charge of Chelsea, guiding the club to third in the Premier League, as well as winning the Europa League and reaching the League Cup final.

But despite his successes, Sarri often came under fire from sections of the Chelsea support for the unwavering faith shown in his so-called ‘Sarri-ball’ style of play.
However, speaking at his first press conference as Juventus manager, the Italian has now hinted he may change his ways with the Old Lady and could tweak styles to suit his new team.
“I have to understand how much I implement my philosophy and how much I leave to the characteristics of the players,” he told reporters. “I organise my teams for 70 metres and then the final 30 I leave to them. Each team is different.”
In what may be construed as a veiled dig at his former club, Sarri also accused Chelsea of being a team of individuals, playing “less fluid” football than Napoli, the club he left to join the Blues.

“Chelsea is a team made up of players, probably who have a higher technical level but with individual characteristics,” Sarri said.
“They have players who play on the flank, want to play one v ones so, from that point of view, the football they play is less fluid, less smooth.
“Compared to Napoli where they could all play well [together], at Chelsea, there were seven or eight players playing individualistically. They were effective, solid and that was not so easy to defeat.”
Sarri has joined Juventus on a three-year contract following the departure of Max Allegri from the Allianz Stadium dugout.
