Man City Champions League Final predicted XI: Injury updates and team news
Kyle Walker insists he “won’t be missing the Champions League final for anything” despite nursing a back injury ahead of Manchester City’s title showdown with Inter on Saturday.
Manchester City Team News
Premier League champions City are looking to complete the treble in Istanbul, having also captured the FA Cup last weekend.
Walker limped off during the latter stages of the victory over Manchester United at Wembley, where Ilkay Gundogan’s brace secured a 2-1 victory.
The England international was absent from training on Tuesday, but is adamant is was only precautionary.
“I’m fine, I’m just getting old,” he told Sky Sports News. “I’m completely fine, it’s just an extra day of recovery.
“I’ve played a lot of minutes over the last number of weeks, so the manager said: ‘Just stay inside and come Saturday, you will be raring to go’.
“The minutes that I’ve played when everyone else was injured, I was there digging my heels in and getting through it. I won’t be missing the Champions League final for anything.”
Other than that, Pep Guardiola has no injury concerns and will almost certainly opt for his strongest available side to face Inter.
The Spaniard said of Walker during his press conference on Tuesday: “He has had a disturbance in his back. Yesterday he was not good, today he was a little bit better, but we didn’t want to take any risks. We will see what happens in the next days.”
