Manchester United take on their second Premier League opponent of this pre-season when they meet Crystal Palace in Melbourne on Tuesday at 11.10am (UK time).

Erik ten Hag has enjoyed a strong start to this summer, following up the club’s 4-0 demolition job of Liverpool in Thailand with a 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory on Friday night. Attention remains in Victoria as Crystal Palace travel down under fresh from a 2-0 pre-season loss to Jurgen Klopp’s men in the Far East.

Man Utd team news

Man Utd recently confirmed the signings of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax and Christian Eriksen on a free transfer, though reports suggest neither player will make the long-haul journey to Australia, instead both are expected to make their unofficial bows against Atletico Madrid in Norway at the end of this month.

Another player who is set to miss out is Cristiano Ronaldo, who continues to provide a concerning undercurrent to Man Utd’s pre-season preparations. The Portuguese superstar isn’t currently with Ten Hag’s squad and reports suggest he is pushing for a move to a Champions League club this summer.

Former club and international teammate Nani has since revealed that his compatriot is ignoring his calls — but he remains hopeful that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer.

Nani told The Mirror: “When he’s on vacation he doesn’t answer the phone to anybody! I tried to talk to him, but he said ‘I’m so busy now, we’ll talk soon’.

“He’s an important player and a player who always makes a difference. I hope he’s in a good mood to help the club, so hopefully he’ll stay.”
