Manchester United finish off their preparation for the new season when they face Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon (4pm, UK time).

How to watch Man Utd vs Rayo Vallecano:

The game is available to watch in the UK on Man Utd’s official television channel, MUTV.

Man Utd team news

In what has turned out to be a summer of unwanted drama for Manchester United their leading marksman — and club legend — Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been seeking an exit from the club after United failed to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League group phase. The five-time Ballon d’Or recipient would subsequently be linked with a host of European powerhouses but nothing came to fruition with less than a week before the new Premier League season gets underway.

With personal reasons cited Ronaldo has missed United’s pre-season preparations under new head coach Erik ten Hag but that could all change as the Portuguese forward hints involvement against Rayo Vallecano, whom he’s faced nine times before subsequently registering 12 goals, saying ‘Sunday, the king plays’ on an Instagram post. It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo is part of Ten Hag’s squad, if he is then chances are United’s number seven will start on the bench. Lisandro Martinez, an unused substitute in the 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid, will be hoping to make his unofficial debut.

Rayo Vallecano team news

This game is Rayo Vallecano’s last pre-season fixture before their La Liga campaign starts against Barcelona on August 13. Andoni Iraola’s side have enjoyed a mixed bag when it comes to preparing for the new season. They would suffer a 3-0 loss to Freiburg before winning two of their next three fixtures with a 2-2 draw with Birmingham City sandwiched in between. In terms of recruitment they’ve brought in four players without spending a penny. Unai López, Salvi Sánchez and Diego López have all joined as free agents while former Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune is on loan from Alavés.

Scoreline prediction: Man Utd 3-0 Rayo Vallecano
