‘I will try this summer’ – Paul Pogba’s agent hints at Real Madrid transfer for Man Utd star
Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has revealed he is aiming to take a “great footballer” to Real Madrid this summer.
Pogba has long been linked with Los Blancos and both his and Raiola’s relationship with Manchester United have become strained in recent months.
Is Pogba destined for Real Madrid? Five things to know…
- Pogba re-joined Man Utd from Juventus for £89.3m in 2016.
- He tops the clubs charts for successful passes (5,418), take-ons (216), chances created (167) and assists (25) in the Premier League since then.
- However, Pogba has had a number of unsettled seasons, clashing with United fans and being linked with a move away from the club.
- Real Madrid have been most strongly linked with his signature.
- And Raiola admits he’s looking to take a “great footballer” to the Bernabeu this summer.
The France international has had another unsettled season at Old Trafford, restricted to just five Premier League starts due to injury, and although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has tried his best to quell rumours regarding Pogba, Raiola has hinted at a different outcome in the summer.
“My relations with Real Madrid are very good,” the agent told Marca. “I want to take a great footballer there and I will try this summer. It would be a pride for me and my footballers because Real Madrid is a great club. Alphonse Areola is already there, but it’s only half an operation because it’s a loan deal.
“I am in contact with [general director] Jose Angel Sanchez and I love discussing football and FIFA issues with him because his opinion interests me. I have great hope that one day he will be able to lead a great footballer to Real Madrid.”

On Pogba’s situation specifically, Raiola added: “Paul is going through a difficult time, but let it be clear because in England they are very sensitive, Pogba is focused on making a great end to the season with Manchester United.
“He wants to get back into the team and make a great end to the season and that United can reach the Champions League.”
Erling Haaland will be at Dortmund for the “necessary time”, says Raiola
Erling Braut Haaland is another player to recently join Raiola’s portfolio and after taking the footballing world by storm this season — scoring 40 goals in 33 combined appearances for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund — has already been linked with another move up the footballing ladder this summer.
Haaland only joined Dortmund in January but such has been his rapid adaptation in the Bundesliga, Real Madrid have already been linked with a move for the Norwegian sensation.
But Raiola has insisted Haaland will remain at Dortmund for the “necessary time” in order to aid his development and doesn’t see him leaving the club this summer.
“He is a very important jewel,” he said. “It is nice to see him play and see how he develops in each game.
“Nobody thought that his adaptation to the Bundesliga or the Champions League in a team like Borussia Dortmund would be like that. No one expected it. It is not easy to go from Austria to Germany and show that level.
“He still has a lot to grow. He will be in Dortmund for the necessary time. It is true that he is a footballer who is enjoying the fastest stages of growth that one could think of. He did not think that when he left Salzburg. It was the right time, but I don’t think he’ll be leaving Dortmund this summer.”
