Ones to watch

Man Utd: Mason Greenwood

Solskjaer normally uses the Europa League to field several of the club’s youngsters. And one youngster who has been given ample playing time is teenage forward Mason Greenwood, one of only two United players to register a goal in the competition. He sat out the Red Devils’ recent away win in Belgrade but is expected to feature on Thursday evening and will no doubt have a point to prove.

Key stat: Mason Greenwood has scored Man Utd’s only goal from open play in the Europa League.

Partizan: Bibras Natkho

Partizan (4) have double the number of goals Man Utd have scored (2) in Group L so far, 75% of which were either finished or created by Bibras Natcho. The Israeli midfielder is likely to represent their best hope of troubling the 2016/17 champions.

Key stat: Bibras Natkho has been involved in the most goals for Partizan in the Europa League (3) – scored two of them.

Team news

Man Utd

Man Utd will be without several players through injury, most notably Paul Pogba. The France international is still recovering from an ankle injury he sustained back in September. Keeping Pogba company in the physio room are Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Nemanja Matic. Brandon Williams and James Garner are hoping to make rare starts.

Predicted XI: Romero; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Jones, Williams; Garner, McTominay; James, Lingard, Rashford; Greenwood.

Partizan

Partizen travel to England with a fully available squad for manager – and former Aston Villa striker – Savo Milošević, who is expected to field his most regular starting XI and include in-form centre-forward Umar Sadiq. The Nigeria u23 forward has seven league goals in the Serbian top flight in 12 appearances so far this season.

Predicted XI: Stojković; Urošević, Pavlović, Ostojić, Miletić; Tošić, Natkho, Zdjelar, Soumah; Asano, Sadiq.

Squawka prediction

Despite their recent troubles, including a failure to win any of their last three home games in regular time, Man Utd should have too much for their Serbian visitors. Perhaps don’t expect the occasion to be plain-sailing for Solskjaer’s men, however.

Scoreline prediction: Man Utd 2-0 Partizan
