Manchester United will be looking to keep their Premier League top four hopes alive when they host Leicester City on Saturday at 5:30pm (UK time).

Ralf Rangnick’s side are currently sixth, four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal but have played a game more than the Gunners. Leicester, meanwhile, look out of contention for European football, 12 points behind seventh-placed West Ham – a tough gap to bridge even with three games in hand.

Man Utd team news vs Leicester: Maguire to fight the boo boys

  • Ins: Luke Shaw
  • Outs: Edinson Cavani
  • Doubts: None

Luke Shaw will be available for Man Utd having missed their last three games before the international break with coronavirus. The left-back was able to be called up for the England squad and played in both matches against Switzerland and Ivory Coast, scoring in the 2-1 win over the former.

Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane are also expected to be fit after suffering injury scares while on international duty with France, but Edinson Cavani is out.

There will be a lot eyes on Harry Maguire this weekend after the centre-back was booed by a section of England fans in their 3-0 win over Ivory Coast. The centre-back hasn’t been in the best form for Man Utd and some believed he should not have been called up for the England squad despite always performing for the Three Lions, becoming a key member of Gareth Southgate’s side.

A lot of Maguire’s England teammates, and Southgate, came out to criticise the boos and former Man Utd midfielder Roy Keane has admitted he feels sympathy for Maguire but had advised the centre-back to push on and focus on his club form now.

“I feel for him. When I got the captaincy I had been there a number of years. I was used to the club and the culture of the club. I learned from other captains, what they did,” he told Sky Sports’ The Overlap Live Fan Debate.

“And we were a winning team, which makes everything a lot easier. When Harry came to the club and got the captaincy, it made me worry about the other players, that none of them were able to take the responsibility. I think it would be difficult to take it off him, I don’t think that’s ideal. I think he’ll just have to grow with it.

“He should make sure he’s playing well himself. Whatever about the different demands, make sure you’re playing well. The rest will come from there. But while Harry is struggling with his own form, people will still come back to the captaincy.

“You can get carried away with the captaincy. Just try and be a good teammate, and a good player. Try and train properly. Do all the basics right, and the rest will fall into place.”

Leicester team news vs Man Utd: Vardy still in doubt

  • Ins: Wesley Fofana
  • Outs: Danny Ward, Ryan Bertrand, Wilfried Ndidi.
  • Doubts: Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton

Earlier in March, Brendan Rodgers pinpointed after the international break as a potential time for Jamie Vardy to return from his knee injury, so Leicester fans will be hopeful that the English striker is available to face Man Utd. But if he isn’t, it won’t be too long before he does return, and the same can be said for Marc Albrighton.

Wesley Fofana is expected to be back, however, after making his first appearance of the season in Leicester’s 2-1 defeat to Rennes just before the international break having sat out of the following Premier League match. Wilfried Ndidi has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
