  • Man United’s last loss to Leeds came in September 2002. Since then the Red Devils have won 11 and drawn 5 against their Yorkshire rivals.

Man United have certainly enjoyed the past few years when it comes to playing Leeds, with the Lancashire club going 16 games without a loss, in all competitions, when facing their old adversaries. That last Leeds win came early into the 2002-03 season, with a single goal from Harry Kewell being enough to secure victory. Things have a different complexion now though, with Leeds sacking head coach, Jesse Marsch, on Monday and travelling to Old Trafford with Michael Skubala, Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas in the dug out.

Can Man United make it 17 games without loss against Leeds on Wednesday evening?

  • Leeds have gone 17 games since their last victory at Old Trafford, a record dating back to February 1981.

Things get even worse for Leeds when you dig into their record when playing at Old Trafford. Their last win at Man United came in February 1981, over nine years before the birth of the oldest player in the Leeds squad (Joel Robles, born in June 1990), thanks to a Bryan Flynn goal. Leeds haven’t had much luck in the years since and, with things looking desperate for them at the moment, it could be a run that is extended even further this week.

Man United have also won 13 games in a row at home, their longest winning run at Old Trafford since a club record run of 20 wins in a row that ended in October 2011 at the hands of Man City.

  • Since Leeds return to the Premier League, this fixture has averages 4.5 cards per game.

There have been four matches between these two sides since Leeds won promotion from the Championship, and they’ve produced plenty of cards along the way. A yellow card has been shown 18 times across those four encounters, an incredible 4.5 cards per game on average. Luke Ayling is the man who has been booked most in that time, being carded twice and he’ll likely line up in the Leeds defence once again on Wednesday evening.

With so much on the line, it could be a busy night for referee, Simon Hooper. Here’s a reminder how booking points work:

  • Marcus Rashford would equal Wayne Rooney’s record of six goals in six consecutive league games at Old Trafford if he scores against Leeds on Wednesday.

Marcus Rashford has returned from the World Cup in the form of his life. The 25 year old has scored 11 times in the 13 games played since the return of domestic football and is on the verge of equaling Rooney’s record of six home goals in six consecutive games. It would be a brave man to bet against Rashford finding the net again in this form and he’s the bookies favourite to get his name on the scoresheet against Leeds.

  • Jack Harrison has had 16 shots in his last 15 games. The only game in this run where he failed to have an effort on goal was the 4-3 victory over Bournemouth.

There is some hope for Leeds though, and a large part of that rests on the shoulders of Jack Harrison. The 25 year old is approaching 200 games for Leeds and he’s been instrument in their attacking fortunes over that time. With 16 shots in his last 15 games, he’ll be hoping to put David de Gea under plenty of pressure when they face off on Wednesday.
