Lyon will be looking to get back on the winning track in Ligue 1 when Lens visit Parc Olympique Lyonnais this Saturday evening (20:00 UK time).
Peter Bosz’s men incredibly snatched a defeat from the jaws of defeat last time out against Nice while their visitors are early leaders Paris Saint-Germain’s nearest challengers.

Lyon vs Lens build-up & previous line-ups:
Heading into the final 22 minutes against Nice last time out, Lyon were sitting on a 0-2 lead and seemingly cruising towards a second consecutive Ligue 1 win, but the final 10 minutes saw the game turn on its head. Three unanswered strikes from the hosts, including two in the final minutes, handed Peter Bosz’s men a first league defeat in four games. The result subsequently leaves them in ninth place on 16 points albeit 75% of those have been accumulated at home. Though worrisome is the fact that Lyon have only won two of their previous 12 Ligue 1 matches versus a Ligue 1 team sitting in the first three positions: 1-0 at Paris Saint-Germain in December 2020 and 2-3 at Monaco earlier this year.
Things could not be any better for Lens who have 21 points after 11 Ligue 1 games this season, they’ve only done better at this stage of a top flight campaign twice before in the 3-point era for a win: 1995/96 (22) and 2001/02 (24), in the latter season they would finish runners-up. As things stand only PSG (28) sit ahead of them in the young French championship table. Franck Haise’s men also come into this latest matchday having won three of their previous four matches. However against this weekend’s opponents they’ve won 13% of their games against them in the 21st century (3/23) which is their lowest win percentage against a side they’ve faced at least three times in Ligue 1 across this period.

Player to watch: Lucas Paquetá (Lyon)
Obviously losing a player of Memphis Depay’s caliber would harm Lyon this season. The 27-year-old Dutch forward managed 63 goals across 139 league outings for Les Gones before joining Barcelona as a free agent this summer. In his absence Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Paquetá has seamlessly filled the void. Last time out Bosz fielded him as a false nine for the second time but in that role he’s yet to find the net and increase his tally which currently stands at four goals. His most recent strike came on matchday seven which saw him register for a third successive game. On top of that Paquetá initiated 14 sequences of play that have ended in a shot in Ligue 1 this season, only Montpellier skipper Téji Savanier (15) has registered more.
