Luton vs Manchester United predicted XIs: Confirmed team news and probable lineups

Luton will be hoping to bounce back from their surprise home defeat against Sheffield United last weekend when they host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Red Devils have hit a promising run of form, though, and are focused on chasing down a top-four berth. Following their away win at high-flying Aston Villa, Erik ten Hag’s men have now gone six games without defeat in all competitions.
Luton are desperately trying to avoid a relegation battle and have picked up some pivotal wins of late, although last weekend’s home defeat to struggling Sheffield United did set them back somewhat.
Can United’s potential new Sporting Director lead a red revolution?
As has often been the case in recent years, a lot of the noise surrounding Manchester United at the moment is focused on off-field matters with rumours circulating that Sporting Director Dan Ashworth could join the club from Newcastle United.
Ashworth, who has worked for a host of clubs in his career and was also partially credited with creating the ‘England DNA’ development plan during his time with the FA, is highly regarded in the game and has been linked with a similar position at Old Trafford before.
Former United full-back Gary Neville told Sky Bet’s Stick to Football Podcast: ““If Dan does come in, I do think there’s a chance that the performance mentality will improve, the mentality that they do have, (it) could run through the club quite quickly.”
“I’m not saying Dan is going to be a success at Manchester United, but if you’ve got the guy in from Manchester City and now Dan Ashworth, at least you’ve got people in roles that belong, as they’ve not had that in the last 10 years” continued Neville, who has been a long-time critic of the way the club has been run.
While Newcastle are unlikely to let Ashworth go without a fight, the desire to bring in an experienced and trusted director to work alongside new chief executive Omar Berrada suggests a change in direction that will likely be welcome with open arms by the Old Trafford faithful.
Luton vs Manchester United Team News
Luton remain without the injured trio of Marvelous Nakamba, Tom Lockyer and Mads Andersen, while January signing Daiki Hashioka is still a doubt as he looks to get up to full fitness ahead of his debut for the Hatters.
Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering from a knee injury, with the Argentinian joining Anthony Martial, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount on the injury list.
Full-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are both doubts for the Red Devils after Shaw was taken off as a precaution against Aston Villa last weekend.
