In-demand Eintracht Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic has generated uncertainty on a move to Real Madrid after admitting his style of play is more suited to the Premier League or Serie A.
The 21-year-old has attracted plenty of interest after an exceptional campaign at the Commerzbank-Arena, with Los Blancos tipped to acquire his services.
Where next for Jovic? Five key things to know…
- Having made his loan move from Benfica permanent last month, Frankfurt now look set to sell Jovic.
- Earlier this month, it was reported Jovic had put pen-to-paper with Real Madrid for £52.4m.
- But Marca have since suggested a fee is yet to be reached, with Frankfurt valuing the player at around £100m.
- Interest from PSG has upped the ante but Real are refusing to lock horns in a bidding war.
- Jovic has now cast further doubt on a move to Real after opening the door on a move to England or Italy.
With 27 goals and six assists across all competitions, Jovic is hot property right now, sparking curiosity from Paris Saint-Germain and a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea.
As such, Frankfurt believe they could now receive a higher transfer fee for their prized assist and have reportedly put him on the market for around £100m.
Zinedine Zidane’s side were hopeful of securing his signature for around £50m-£60m, but they are no longer the only powerhouse with a paddle at the auction, though the club are refusing to engage in a bidding war.
These new revelations have cast doubt on his potential move to the Bernabeu, and Jovic himself is doing nothing to ease uncertainties after revealing his game is more suited to English or Italian football.
“From my experience in the Europa League, I would say that some other leagues in Europe are more suited to me and my way of playing football,” he told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
“In terms of the physique, the Bundesliga is very demanding, but after the games against Chelsea or Inter Milan, I personally had the feeling that I could feel even better [playing] in the Premier League or Serie A.
“The way the teams play there suits me better.
“I’m looking forward to seeing my level compared to the best players in the world. One thing is clear: I want to succeed in my career.”

Real Madrid is Jovic’s goal – agent
Despite all the rumours and speculation, ABC.es have reported that this supposedly new £100m price tag is simply untrue and Frankfurt have never demanded more than £60m.
According to Jovic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, the striker has constantly kept in contact with Los Blancos over a proposed move to the Spanish capital this summer.
ABC.es further reported that Jovic has made it clear his goal has always been Real Madrid, with the club looking to bring in a new centre-forward this transfer window.
Zidane must bolster his ranks after overseeing the backend of a tumultuous season, with major doubts over Gareth Bale’s future, Karim Benzema reaching his twilight years and Mariano Diaz failing to make a significant impact on his return last summer.
