The final day of the Premier League season for Liverpool sees the Reds host mid-table Wolves at Anfield in what is sure to be an emotionally-charged afternoon on Merseyside as the club bids farewell to long-serving manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds fell away from the title picture after a poor run of results, including defeats to Crystal Palace at home and at city rivals Everton, but the hosts are looking to end the season on a high for Klopp, and are on a run of three games unbeaten.

Wolves meanwhile are firmly in mid-table and have suffered a torrid end to the campaign, losing seven of their last ten in all competitions including four of their last five, with their sole victory coming against Luton, who look on course to be relegated back down to the Championship.

A fond farewell for a managerial great

Given the success that Jurgen Klopp has brought to Liverpool since taking charge of the club in 2015, a mixture of cheers and tears will be expected across Anfield and Merseyside.

Klopp’s tenure has included lifting the Premier League for the first time in Liverpool’s history (2020), reaching three Champions League finals (winning in 2019 and falling to Real Madrid on two separate occasions in 2018 and 2022) as well as lifting the FA Cup once (2022) and the League Cup twice (2022 and 2024).

The enigmatic German has been awarded plenty of individual accolades as Liverpool manager also, twice being named Manager of the Season as well as receiving Manager of the Month on 10 separate occasions.

208 league victories from 333 games, scoring 712 goals and losing just 47 times show the scale of what Klopp has managed to accomplish in turning Liverpool back into a regular title challenger and, although there will be some excited for the Arne Slot era for next season, many will miss Klopp’s charisma and quality in the dugout.

Liverpool vs Wolves team news

The final matchday squad for Jurgen Klopp sees a number of enforced absentees, the most notable of which are Thiago and Joel Matip who will join the German manager in leaving Anfield at the end of the season.

The fitness of former Wolves forward Diogo Jota and left-back Andrew Robertson will be checked prior to Sunday’s clash, with the latter missing out on Liverpool’s recent 3-3 draw at Aston Villa with a minor niggle.

Gary O’Neil also has a handful of injury issues affecting his squad going into their trip to Anfield. Craig Dawson and Leon Chiwome will both miss out while Pedro Neto is also unlikely to feature as he recovers from a hamstring problem.
