Liverpool and Chelsea meet in the FA Cup Final on Saturday in a repeat of the League Cup Final earlier this season (4.45pm kick-off, UK time).
With the biggest domestic cup on the line, both sides will be fully motivated heading into this match. Jurgen Klopp’s men currently have bragging rights following their League Cup Final penalty win in February but Thomas Tuchel will be looking to add the FA Cup to an already impressive resume as Chelsea boss.

Liverpool team news vs Chelsea: Fabinho not likely to be risked, Henderson to be deployed
- Ins: –
- Outs: Fabinho
The injury to Fabinho is the biggest issue for Jurgen Klopp ahead of the FA Cup final this weekend after the Brazilian midfielder went off in the first half against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening. The defensive midfielder has been one of the most important players for Liverpool this season, his ability to break up play and move the ball on being imperative to the side’s successful campaign.
It’s now been confirmed that Fabinho will miss out this weekend though but the German coach is hopeful he will feature again this season as Liverpool chase a quadruple.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com on Thursday, “There’s a good chance that he will be back whenever – not for the weekend but whenever.”.
Klopp must decide who will replace him in the heart of the Liverpool midfield. Jordan Henderson looks the most likely candidate but there are some issues around his discipline in that position. It’s highly unlikely that Klopp will heap the pressure on 19 year old, Tyler Morton, despite the youngster being given game time earlier in the season.
An outsider to come into the Liverpool midfield is Joel Matip. Although normally partnering Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence, Matip has played in a more advanced role previously and could be a genuine option for Liverpool against a Chelsea side that are likely to possess a real threat in the final third.
The rest of the Liverpool squad should be available for selection, although there are some small doubts over Andy Robertson after he was left out of the squad against Aston Villa. Klopp has insisted it was a case of rotation but it’s not been common for a player as important to Liverpool as Robertson to not even take a place on the bench.
