Victor Lindelof’s agent casts doubt on long-term Man Utd future
Victor Lindelof’s future at Manchester United is in doubt after his agent claimed the defender is open to moving elsewhere.
According to Hasan Cetinkaya, Lindelof could be on the move this summer following reported interest from Barcelona.
Can United afford to let Lindelof go? Five things to know…
- Lindelof joined United in 2017 from Benfica.
- The Swede made 30 Premier League appearances last season.
- United shipped in 54 league goals last season, the most conceded by the club in Premier League history.
- Phil Jones and Eric Bailly only managed 30 appearances in the league between them last season due to injury.
- United had been linked to Harry Maguire, but they fear his £90m price-tag may prove too costly.

Lindelof established himself as a pivotal part of United’s shaky defence last season following a season of finding his feet in 2017/18. However, the 24-year-old could now be on the move if his agent’s latest comments are anything to go by.
In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Cetinkaya said: “Lindelof is in the orbit of a great European club but leaving United depends on the English club.”
The Red Devils have been heavily linked to Leicester’s Harry Maguire, but his £90m price-tag is proving to be a sticking point. Even so, Maguire is viewed as a potential partner for Lindelof rather than his replacement.

A United exodus
Despite the signings of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, this window has been fraught with doubt for the Red Devils. The saga involving Bruno Fernandes seems to be twisting and turning on a daily basis, as does that of Maguire.
But the major concerns for United are outgoings. Paul Pogba seems less and less likely to be in Manchester next season: a training ground ‘bust-up’ with Jesse Lingard is the latest negative headline regarding the Frenchman – though the England international has since uploaded an Instagram post alongside the World Cup winner, seemingly quashing any rumours of discord.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku’s very public admiration for Antonio Conte and Serie A would also suggest that the Belgian could be playing elsewhere in the coming months. Despite his critics, Lukaku was still United’s second-top scorer last season.
If Lindelof was to depart along with Lukaku and Pogba, United could find themselves with a lot to do in a very short period of time at the end of the window.
