Lille will be looking to continue their climb up the Ligue 1 table when they host Brest on Saturday at 8pm (UK time).
The defending French champions are currently 11th in the table with four wins, two draws and four defeats from their opening 10 games but sit just three points outside the top three and Champions League football as things stand at this early stage. Their opponents, meanwhile, are one of two teams in Ligue 1 still awaiting their first victory of the campaign having drawn five and lost five so far.

Lille’s wasteful attack
Lille’s attacking partnership of Jonathan David and Burak Yilmaz was key to their Ligue 1 title win last season and Les Dogues will need them to step things up if they are to challenge for a Champions League spot this time around.
No player has missed more Big Chances in Ligue 1 this season than David and Yilmaz, with both missing eight so far, alongside Amine Gouiri. But David isn’t really the problem, with the Canadian also scoring the joint-most Big Chances in Ligue 1 (six alongside Gaetan Laborde) and only underperforming against his xG by 0.16.
It’s Yilmaz that needs a change in form. The Turkish striker was Lille’s top scorer in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 16 goals en route to the title and adding a further five assists, leading the line with David playing the fine supporting role. But while David has still scored six goals this season and six Big Chances, Yilmaz has converted just one.
With a Big Chance success rate of 11.1%, Yilmaz hasn’t been taking the opportunities he should be to score and is also underperforming against his xG by 2.67 (4.67 with two goals scored). While Yilmaz has also added two assists, Lille need him to start banging the goals in too, to ease the pressure on David and help lift them up the table.
