Julian Nagelsmann: Leroy Sane has not been playing well — and I don’t know why
Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has expressed his concern about the worrying form of Leroy Sane, who has scored just one goal and failed to provide an assist in his last nine Bundesliga games.
The 26-year-old started in the club’s recent 1-0 win over Augsburg, bringing up appearance No. 40 of the campaign, but he was hooked after 65 minutes for Kingsley Coman with the game at the Allianz Arena goalless at the time.
Robert Lewandowski would ultimately strike eight minutes from time to ensure the Bavarians avoided a Bundesliga slip-up, consolidating their position atop the table and maintaining a nine-point cushion between themselves and second place.

Nagelsmann would have been chuffed to collect another three points in the German top flight, but perhaps concerned by the fact it took 82 minutes to break down an Augsburg side just two places above the relegation play-off, and Sane was highlighted as a particular worry in the aftermath.
“I like Leroy very much, as a person and as a player. Everyone knows that he has incredible qualities,” Nagelsmann told GOAL and SPOX.
“He is self-critical enough and knows himself that he hasn’t recently played well. I don’t know exactly why.

As the substitution board went up, Sane appeared unhappy with Nagelsmann’s decision, which extended to a half-hearted embrace as he trudged off, but the German coach was quick to play down any suggestions of a fractured relationship between the pair.
“I’m not angry, we don’t have to make a headline out of it,” he added.
