RB Leipzig team news
RB Leipzig head coach Domenico Tedesco is still without a number of his players. Josko Gvardiol, who’s being linked with a move away this summer, has been ruled out until the start of the Bundesliga season after going under the knife to correct a thigh injury. Elsewhere forward Yussuf Poulsen continues to recover from a muscular injury sustained on international duty, while Ademola Lookman is doubtful after picking up an ankle injury in training. Tedesco is expected to make full use of his squad meaning Christopher Nkunku, who recently penned a contract extension, should lead their attacking line though last time out against Premier League opposition it was Angelino, Emil Forsberg and Ilaix Moriba that got on the scoresheet in Leipizig’s 3-1 win over Southampton.
Liverpool team news
There’s a setback for Liverpool as they begin the European leg of their pre-season. First-choice goalkeeper Alisson sits out the Leipzig meeting due to an abdominal issue. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also misses out after sustaining yet another muscular injury in the win over Crystal Palace last week. Joe Gomez was left out as a precaution but he’s now back in training and could be available for selection. Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate, both of whom are ex-Leipzig players, will be looking to face their former club. Mohamed Salah is expected to come into Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup with Diogo Jota ruled out. Darwin Nunez is still looking to get off the mark for his new team.
Scoreline prediction: RB Leipzig 2-3 Liverpool
