Lazio vs AC Milan build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

Lazio suffered a damaging 5-2 defeat to fellow top-four chasers Napoli in their last match, but remain well in the hunt for a place at Europe’s top table next season. Simone Inzaghi’s side are eight points behind Juve in fourth, but have two games in hand on the Old Lady while a win here would also move them to within five points of Milan with a game in hand.

After leading the table for so long this season, Milan are now fully focused on finishing in the top four. Inconsistency has marked the last few months of their campaign, but Stefano Pioli’s men are still in the driving seat for Champions League qualification. However, as well as Monday’s game, the Rossoneri still have fixtures against Juventus and Atalanta to come and will see their credentials truly tested.

  • Lazio (vs Napoli): Reina; Marusic, Acerbi, Radu; Lazzari, Milinkovic-Savic, Lucas, Alberto*, Fares; Correa, Immobile*.
  • AC Milan (vs Sassuolo): Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Dalot; Meite, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Rebic; Leao.

Luis Alberto and Ciro Immobile both picked up injuries against Napoli and will miss out here, while Gonzalo Escalante and Luiz Felipe are also sidelined.

Theo Hernandez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both injured for Milan but Ismael Bennacer could return to the starting XI.

Player to watch: Hakan Calhanoglu (AC Milan)

Although his side threw away the lead to lose 2-1, Hakan Calhanoglu delivered a beautiful right-footed finish into the far corner to put Milan 1-0 up against Sassuolo last time out. It was just the third league goal of the season for the Turkey international but a perfect illustration of what he is capable of with the ball at his feet.

Another one of those three goals came in Milan’s last meeting with Lazio, where Calhanoglu put the hosts 2-0 up en route to a 3-2 win, while he also set up the other two goals, contributing to a team-high total of eight assists this season.

Like the rest of his teammates, Calhanoglu has been incredibly inconsistent over the last few months. But on his day, he has the ability to split the opposition defence wide open, and he certainly knows how to do just that against Lazio.
