LA Rams are the defending NFL champions having beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in the SuperBowl earlier this year but they got their 2022 campaign off to a losing start. The Rams had a pretty tough game in their season opener up against the Buffalo Bills who reached the divisional playoffs last year and had Von Miller in their roster, who had won the SuperBowl with the Rams.

The kickoff game of the season, the Rams lost the first quarter 7-0 but had tied it up 10-10 at the half. However, the Rams were shut out in the second half, with coach Sean McVay losing a season opener for the first time in his coaching career.

The Falcons had a poor season in 2021 failing to reach the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year but they will have been boosted by their preparations for the new campaign, going 2-1 in preseason matches against the Detroit Lions, New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars. But when the season began they were feeling pain once more.

Up against the New Orleans Saints in their season opener, the Falcons came from behind to lead 16-7 at half-time and looked on course for a win. In fact, with 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Falcons per up by 16 points but then came the capitulation. The Saints scored 17 unanswered points to take the lead and the Falcons missed a last-gasp game-winning field goal attempt on the final play which would have sealed the win.
