“There are new elements” – Kylian Mbappe offers update on future amid Real Madrid links
Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has insisted that only he will make a decision on his future amid links with a move to Real Madrid.
Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Madrid for a few years now, before he even moved to PSG, with a much-travelled picture of him with a Cristiano Ronaldo-themed bedroom always lurking.
Real Madrid even submitted a bid for Mbappe last summer worth €200m, but PSG did not even reply according to reports. The links have reached their peak this season with Mbappe’s contract at PSG up in the summer and the Frenchman is yet to sign a new deal.
Mbappe has recently said that there is every possibility he could stay in PSG, but another Champions League failure could be the deciding factor.

Mbappe was in excellent form against Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League, scoring the only goal in the opening leg and finding the net again at the Bernabeu – while also humiliating Thibaut Courtois in a goal that was later chalked off for offside.
But he was let down by his teammates and a Karim Benzema hat-trick saw PSG slip once again the Champions League, the main barometer for success at the club as they often waltz through Ligue 1.
Their was another humiliating defeat for PSG at the hands of Mbappe’s former side Monaco before the recent international break but the Ligue 1 leaders, and their star man, returned with a bang at the weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men beat relegation-battling Lorient 5-1 on Sunday and Mbappe was on hot form, scoring two goals and recording a hat-trick of assists.

Mbappe has now been directly involved in 315 goals in 323 first-team appearances for club and country, scoring 213 and providing 102 assists. Across Europe’s top five leagues this season, only Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah have been directly involved in more goals than Mbappe’s 30 (17 goals, 13 assists).
Naturally, Mbappe will be subject to interest this summer outside of Real Madrid if he doesn’t sign a new contract at PSG. But the Frenchman insists only he will decide where he plays his football next season.
“I haven’t made my decision yet, everyone knows that I haven’t made my choice,” Mbappe told Amazon Prime after PSG’s win over Lorient.
“I’m thinking because there are new elements, I don’t want to be wrong. I want to make the right choice.
“I know that for people, it’s a little late to make the decision.
“But I am accountable to no one. It’s a personal choice. It is me who makes the decision. I want to make the best decision possible.”
